SOME NATUARAL WAYS TO KEEP INSECTS AWAY FROM YOUR HOME

Keeping your home free from insects can be achieved through a combination of preventive measures and natural remedies. Here are some natural ways to help you keep insects far away from your home:

  1. Clean Regularly:

    • Regular cleaning helps eliminate crumbs, spills, and food residue that attract insects.
    • Pay special attention to the kitchen and areas where food is stored.
  2. Seal Entry Points:

    • Inspect your home for gaps, cracks, and openings where insects can enter.
    • Seal gaps around windows, doors, and utility entry points with seal or weather stripping/waterproof.
  3. Natural Repellents:

    • Use essential oils: Certain essential oils, such as peppermint, eucalyptus tree, citronella, and tea tree oil, have insect-repelling properties. Mix them with water and spray around your home.
    • Citrus peels: Place citrus peels near entry points and areas where insects are likely to gather.
  4. Diatomaceous Earth:

    • Diatomaceous earth is a fine powder that can be sprinkled around areas where insects are a problem. It is harmless to humans and pets but deadly to many insects.
  5. Neem Oil:
    • Neem oil is a natural insect repellent. Mix it with water and spray it around your home, especially in areas prone to insect activity.
  6. Cedar Products:

    • Cedarwood has natural insect-repelling properties. Use cedarwood sachets, blocks, or shavings in closets and drawers.
  7. Clean Drains:
    • Insects are often attracted to damp areas. Keep drains clean and free from debris to reduce their attraction.
  8. Remove Standing Water:

    • Eliminate sources of standing water, as they can attract mosquitoes and other insects. Fix leaky faucets and ensure proper drainage around your home.
  9. Bay Leaves:
    • Place bay leaves in your pantry and other areas where stored food is kept. Insects tend to avoid the scent of bay leaves.
  10. Beneficial Plants:
    • Plant insect-repelling herbs like basil, mint, lavender, and rosemary around your home.
    • Certain flowers, such as marigolds and chrysanthemums, have natural insect-repelling properties.
  11. Essential Oils on Fabrics:
    • Apply a few drops of insect-repelling essential oils on fabrics, such as curtains and upholstery.
  12. Vinegar:
    • White vinegar can be used to clean surfaces and floors, repelling insects due to its strong odor.

Remember that consistency is key, and combining multiple methods often provides the best results. Additionally, proper waste management and storing food in airtight containers contribute significantly to pest prevention.
