URGENT UPDATE: The Federal Government has clarified its choice to set up solar panels at the Aso Rock Villa. Mustapha Abdulahi, the Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, stated that it is not viable for the Aso Rock Villa to keep spending approximately ₦47 billion annually on electricity costs. He explained that this is the reason President Bola Tinubu sanctioned ₦10 billion for the solar power grid intended to supply energy to the presidential villa. Breaking news: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp services down for users

According to Arogbonlo Israel of Vangaurd News paper, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are currently down for many users. The three apps – which are all owned by Facebook, and run on shared infrastructure – all completely stopped working shortly before 5pm. Other products that are part of the same family of apps, such as Facebook Workplace, also stopped working. When Vanguard visited the Facebook website, there was an error page, that is, a message that their browser could not connect.
